Oopbuy shipping calculator

Last updated .

Quick answer: Enter your parcel's weight and box size, and the price structure of the line you're considering, and this calculator shows the chargeable weight, the estimated shipping cost and, for the EU, the €3-per-item customs duty and VAT on top. Line prices change, so copy the current first-weight and additional-weight prices from the line list in your Oopbuy account rather than relying on fixed numbers.

Why this calculator asks for line prices

Most "shipping calculators" on spreadsheet sites show fixed per-kilo prices. Those numbers go out of date quickly: agents change line prices, add and remove lines, and prices differ by destination. A calculator built on stale prices can be wrong by a lot. This one does the part that doesn't change, the weight maths and the tax rules, and lets you enter the current prices of the lines you're actually considering, copied from your Oopbuy account.

The maths here is stable; the line prices should always come from your own account.

Real weight vs volumetric weight

Most lines charge whichever is higher: the parcel's real weight, or its volumetric weight. Volumetric weight is the box's length × width × height in centimetres, divided by the line's divisor, commonly 5,000 or 6,000. A 40 × 30 × 15 cm box works out at 3.6 kg with a 5,000 divisor, even if what's inside weighs 2 kg. That is why bulky, light items like puffer jackets and boxed shoes cost more than their weight suggests.

Box (cm)Volumetric ÷ 5,000Volumetric ÷ 6,000
30 × 20 × 101.2 kg1.0 kg
40 × 30 × 153.6 kg3.0 kg
50 × 40 × 2510.0 kg8.3 kg

Ways to bring it down: ask the warehouse to remove shoe boxes, vacuum-pack clothing, or choose a line marked "actual weight", which charges real weight only.

If your parcel is bulky, volumetric weight sets the price; shrink the box or pick an actual-weight line.

Taxes the calculator adds

  • EU customs duty: since 1 July 2026, parcels worth up to €150 sent to EU consumers from outside the EU pay a temporary flat duty of €3 per item. Above €150, normal duty rates apply; the calculator doesn't estimate those.
  • VAT: enter your country's rate (for example 19% in Germany, 20% in the UK and France) to estimate VAT on goods, shipping and duty. UK VAT on parcels up to £135 is charged at the point of sale.
  • Tax-inclusive lines: some lines already include VAT and duty in their price. If so, leave VAT at 0 and untick the EU box to avoid counting them twice.

Know whether your line includes tax before adding it; otherwise you'll count it twice.

Using the result

  1. Compare two or three lines by running the calculator with each line's prices.
  2. Check delivery times for those lines on the shipping time page.
  3. Apply coupons from your wallet; the coupon guide explains them.
  4. Request a rehearsal for heavy or bulky parcels to confirm the real packed weight before paying.

FAQ

Why doesn't the calculator include Oopbuy's line prices?

Line prices change often and differ by country, so any fixed table would go out of date. Copy the current prices for the lines you're considering from your Oopbuy account.

What is volumetric weight?

A weight calculated from the parcel's size: length × width × height in centimetres, divided by the line's factor, often 5,000 or 6,000. Lines usually charge the higher of real and volumetric weight.

How is EU duty calculated since July 2026?

Parcels worth up to €150 sent to EU consumers from outside the EU pay a temporary flat customs duty of €3 per item. Above €150, normal duty rates apply, which this calculator doesn't estimate.

Does the calculator include the declaration fee?

Add Oopbuy's customs declaration fee (about ¥8 per parcel) to the line's first-weight price if you want it included, converted to your currency.

How accurate is the estimate?

As accurate as the numbers you enter. A rehearsal, the warehouse's trial packing, gives the real packed weight before you pay.
