AliExpress spreadsheet

Last updated . AliExpress sells internationally; no agent needed.

Quick answer: AliExpress is Alibaba's international retail marketplace, so unlike Taobao or Weidian you buy from it directly, in English, with international shipping and buyer protection. An AliExpress spreadsheet is just a list of AliExpress listings. It's simpler than an agent for one or two items; an agent buying from Taobao or 1688 can be cheaper for larger hauls and gives you warehouse QC photos before anything ships.

AliExpress is direct buying, not an agent platform

AliExpress is Alibaba's international marketplace. Chinese sellers list products in English, set prices in your currency and ship to you directly. That makes it very different from Taobao, Weidian and 1688, which are built for buyers inside China and need a shopping agent to reach you.

An "AliExpress spreadsheet" is therefore simply a list of AliExpress listings, often gathered by someone who found good sellers. You open a link and buy it like any online shop. There is no warehouse stage, no separate payment for international shipping and no agent QC photos.

That also means the usual agent advice changes. There is no storage window to watch and no rehearsal to request; instead, the things to manage are the seller's delivery estimate and the platform's dispute deadline. Both are shown on each order page, so check them when you order.

AliExpress links are bought directly; no agent involved.

AliExpress is simpler; agents give you more range, QC photos and one combined parcel.

How AliExpress buyer protection works

AliExpress holds sellers to a buyer-protection policy. If an order doesn't arrive within the protection period, or arrives not as described, you can open a dispute and ask for a refund or partial refund. A few habits make disputes go smoothly:

  1. Note the protection countdown on the order page; it is the deadline for opening a dispute.
  2. Photograph the parcel and item on arrival, including labels and any damage.
  3. Keep communication on the platform. Messages outside AliExpress don't count as evidence.
  4. Don't confirm receipt while a problem is unresolved.
  5. Escalate if needed. If the seller doesn't agree, AliExpress can review the dispute.

Watch the countdown and keep evidence; that is what disputes rely on.

Shipping and VAT

AliExpress shows a delivery estimate on each listing, and times vary widely by seller and shipping option. For VAT, the platform handles most of the work on low-value orders:

  • EU: on orders up to €150, VAT is generally collected at checkout through the EU's IOSS scheme, and since 1 July 2026 a flat €3 customs duty per item also applies. Above €150, VAT and normal customs duty apply on import.
  • UK: VAT on parcels up to £135 is charged at the point of sale.
  • Everywhere: customs can hold goods that infringe trademarks, and buyer protection may not cover a seized parcel.

On low-value orders, VAT is usually already in the price; check the checkout total.

When an agent is the better choice

  • You want items only sold on Taobao, Weidian or 1688, which is where most spreadsheet finds come from.
  • You're buying from several sellers and want one combined parcel instead of many small ones.
  • You want to see your actual item first. Agent QC photos let you return items before paying international shipping.
  • You're buying a larger haul, where lower Chinese domestic prices outweigh the cost of international shipping.

For one or two items from a single seller, AliExpress is often the easier option. For a haul from several shops, the agent route usually works out better. The budget guide shows how shipping costs change with parcel size.

Checking an AliExpress seller

Before buying from a listing in a spreadsheet, look at the store's rating and how long it has been open, read recent reviews with buyer photos, and check that the listing's photos and description match what the spreadsheet promised. Listings change: a link that pointed to one product months ago may now show a different variant, price or even a different seller behind the same page. If you'd rather compare against agent-route prices, the same product may exist on Taobao; the Oopbuy links guide explains how agent links work.

Check the store, the reviews and the current listing before trusting a spreadsheet row.

Common AliExpress mistakes

  • Choosing the cheapest variant without reading it. Some listings show a low price for an accessory or a different item in the variant list.
  • Ignoring the delivery estimate. Two listings for the same product can ship weeks apart depending on seller and option.
  • Missing the dispute window. If a parcel is late, open the dispute before the countdown ends, not after.
  • Assuming size labels are Western. Many sellers use Asian sizing; use the measurements in centimetres.
  • Paying outside the platform because a seller offers a discount. That removes your protection completely.

Read variants, delivery times and sizes, and keep everything on AliExpress.

Other direct marketplaces

DHgate and Hacoo also sell internationally without an agent; see the DHgate and Hacoo pages. For every platform and agent, the agent index has the full list.

FAQ

Do I need an agent for AliExpress?

No. AliExpress is built for international buyers: listings are in English, it ships worldwide and you pay directly.

How does AliExpress buyer protection work?

If an order doesn't arrive or doesn't match its description, you can open a dispute within the protection period shown on your order and request a refund. Keep photos and messages as evidence.

Is AliExpress cheaper than Taobao?

For single items, often similar once shipping is included. Taobao prices are usually lower, but buying through an agent adds international shipping, which pays off mainly on larger combined hauls.

Do I pay VAT on AliExpress orders?

In the EU, VAT is usually collected at checkout on low-value orders, so nothing is due on delivery. In the UK, VAT on parcels up to £135 is charged at the point of sale.

Can I use an AliExpress link with Oopbuy?

Agents focus on Chinese domestic platforms like Taobao, Weidian and 1688. For AliExpress, ordering directly is normally simpler.
