Is Oopbuy legit?

Last updated .

Quick answer: Yes, Oopbuy is a working shopping agent: it launched in 2024, publishes a 0% purchasing fee and 90 days of free storage, and was reachable when we checked on 31 August 2026. The risks that matter are mostly outside the agent itself: money left in any agent's warehouse when agents are shutting down, parcels seized at customs, and an exchange-rate margin that the 0% headline hides.

The short answer, with the parts that matter

Oopbuy is a shopping agent: you send it a Taobao, Weidian or 1688 link, it buys the item, receives it in a warehouse in China, photographs it and ships it to you. It started in 2024 and is one of the larger agents still operating after the August 2026 closures of CNFans and ACBuy. People order, parcels arrive, and the company publishes the terms it charges under. On the question most people are really asking, whether you will lose your money to a fake site, the answer for oopbuy.com is no.

"Legit" is a lower bar than "risk-free", though. Every agent order has three places where money can go wrong: the agent itself, the shipping line, and customs in your country. This page goes through each one, using what Oopbuy publishes and what can be checked from outside.

Oopbuy is legitimate as an agent; treat it like any agent and limit how much money sits with it at once.

What Oopbuy publishes, and what it does not

A legitimate agent writes its terms down. Oopbuy's service and fees document covers the basics, and those are the numbers worth anchoring on:

TermWhat Oopbuy statesWhat to watch
Purchasing fee0% on Taobao, Tmall, 1688 and JDThe agent earns elsewhere: shipping and currency conversion
Free storage90 days from warehouse arrivalDaily fees after that; long storage also raises shutdown exposure
QC photosStandard photos free; extras ¥1 eachThe free set may not show the detail you care about
Returns and exchangesApply within 5 days of an item being storedA short window; check photos the day they arrive
Customs declaration feeAbout ¥8 per parcel, depending on lineSmall, but it is per parcel, not per order

What the document does not tell you is the exchange rate you will get. One independent comparison found Oopbuy's currency margin to be the widest of the three largest agents, which is how a 0% fee agent can still cost more than one that charges a few percent. The fix is simple: compare the final checkout total for the same item across two agents before a big order. The Oopbuy spreadsheet page breaks down every cost line of an order.

The published terms are clear and competitive; the exchange rate is the number to check yourself.

How to read Oopbuy's Trustpilot page

On 1 October 2026 Oopbuy's Trustpilot page listed roughly 780 reviews, and Trustpilot noted that the company had replied to about 10% of negative reviews. Trustpilot also states that it uses automated systems to remove reviews it judges not to be based on a genuine experience. One independent review site reported that Oopbuy's rating had been suspended for a period after such removals. Neither fact proves the remaining reviews are unreliable, but both are good reasons not to take the star average at face value.

A more useful way to read the page:

  • Sort by most recent. Agents change month to month. A review from last year says little about this month's warehouse.
  • Read the one- and two-star reviews for patterns. Visible complaints include rehearsals stuck for a week or more. A pattern repeated across several recent reviews matters more than any single angry post.
  • Look at what the company replies. A reply that names a concrete fix is a better sign than a template thank-you. Replying to one negative review in ten is on the low side.
  • Discount hauls that read like adverts. Very short, very enthusiastic reviews with order numbers pasted in are common on every agent's page.

Use Trustpilot for recent complaint patterns, not for the star score.

Where the real risks sit

1. Money held by an agent that closes

August 2026 showed this clearly. When CNFans and ACBuy shut down, buyers with items in storage or money in their wallet balance depended on how each agent wound down. Raid reports about Mulebuy spread the same month without independent confirmation. None of this is specific to Oopbuy, which was operating normally when we checked, but it is the main reason to keep storage periods short and wallet top-ups small. The agent status table records when each agent was last confirmed working.

2. Customs seizures

Customs in the EU, UK and US can detain and destroy goods that infringe trademarks. When that happens, the agent has done its job; whether you get money back depends on the shipping line's insurance terms. Read those terms before choosing a line, and be aware that insurance is often capped or excludes seizures entirely.

3. Lost or damaged parcels

Parcels do go missing in transit. What protects you is the line's tracking and its claim process, plus photos of your parcel taken before it leaves the warehouse. Lines with full tracking to your door cost more and are worth it for valuable parcels.

4. Look-alike sites and apps

Several sites and app-store apps use the Oopbuy name without being Oopbuy, including at least one iPhone app published under an individual developer's name. Only pay through oopbuy.com or the official app linked from it. This site is independent of Oopbuy and has no login; our own WhatsApp buying service is separate from Oopbuy and never asks for your Oopbuy password.

Most losses come from storage left too long, customs, or a fake site, and all three are avoidable.

How to test Oopbuy safely with a first order

  1. Start with one or two cheap items. Pick finds from the Oopbuy spreadsheet under about $30 so a problem costs little.
  2. Pay per order, not into the wallet. Topping up a large balance in advance is the easiest money to lose if anything goes wrong.
  3. Check the QC photos the day they arrive. The 5-day return window starts at storage, not when you happen to log in. Our guide to Oopbuy QC photos covers what to look for.
  4. Ship within a few weeks. There is no reason to use all 90 days of storage on a test order.
  5. Pick a tracked line. For the first parcel, seeing every step matters more than saving a few dollars.

If the first parcel arrives as expected, you have tested the full chain: purchase, warehouse, QC, packing and the line to your country. That tells you more than any review. The step-by-step ordering guide walks through each screen.

A small, tracked first order is the cheapest way to answer "is it legit" for yourself.

FAQ

Is Oopbuy a scam?

No. Oopbuy buys items from Taobao, Weidian and 1688, photographs them in its warehouse and ships them. Buyers receive parcels and Oopbuy publishes its fee and storage terms. That does not make every order risk-free; see the risks section above.

Is Oopbuy safe to buy from?

The agent side is reasonably safe if you keep orders small at first and do not leave items in storage for months. The bigger risks are customs seizures, lost parcels and agent shutdowns, which apply to every agent.

Is Oopbuy legit on Reddit?

Reddit opinion on any agent moves quickly, and you will find both haul posts and complaint threads. Read threads from the last month or two and look for repeated problems, the same way as on Trustpilot; a thread from last year says little about the warehouse today.

Is Oopbuy official or connected to this site?

This site is independent and not connected to Oopbuy. Only oopbuy.com and its official app are Oopbuy; several look-alike sites and unofficial apps use the name.

What happens to my items if an agent shuts down?

When CNFans and ACBuy closed in August 2026, buyers with items in storage depended entirely on how each agent wound down. Keeping storage short and wallet balances low is the only protection you control.
